May 2020 News Update

Following the Prime Ministers ‘lifting the lockdown’ statement the same Rules apply:

We still need to be extra careful of hygiene whilst we are on our allotments. It is still important to wear gloves when touching surfaces others might have touched such as gate padlocks and wheelbarrows and to carry anti-bacterial wipes with you at all times. OR use hand santitiser after touching surfaces others might have touched.  It will still not be possible for anyone to use the communal equipment or for us to train new people on the equipment.  Wash your hands regularly, but not in the troughs, please use the taps.

NO bonfires and NO visitors should be on the allotments, only plotholders and their immediate family who live in the same house.  NO socializing on other plots.  Follow the Rules and keep to social distancing.  Stay safe.

It’s great to see the allotments so busy!  We have a growing waiting list too.

A lot of Thanks to Members this month – to everyone who has been following the guidelines, to everyone who has been taking part in mowing all the common areas and generally keeping the site tidy, and to those of you who are helping out a neighbour because they have not been able to come down because of self-isolation or shielding, Thank You.  It feels like a real community.

A couple of Members have suggested setting up a proper ‘recycle’ area for those unwanted, but could be useful to others, bits.  Are others interested, either in helping manage such an area, or using such an area?
